Polish schools have two weeks of winter holidays (ferie zimowe) between 18 January and 28 February 2027, in one of three periods, depending on the region (voivodeship). Lower Silesia, with Karpacz, Szklarska Poręba and Zieleniec, has the first period, and Małopolska, with Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska and Krynica-Zdrój, the last.

The lift pass and rental prices below are from the resorts' and shops' price lists, checked on 24 October 2026.

Winter school holiday dates 2027 by region

The Ministry of National Education announced the dates in May 2025 and repeated them in its school-year calendar in May 2026.

Dates
Regions (voivodeships)
18 to 31 January 2027
dolnośląskie (Lower Silesia), łódzkie, opolskie, podkarpackie, podlaskie, śląskie
1 to 14 February 2027
lubelskie, mazowieckie (Warsaw), pomorskie, świętokrzyskie
15 to 28 February 2027
kujawsko-pomorskie, lubuskie, małopolskie (Kraków, Zakopane), warmińsko-mazurskie, wielkopolskie, zachodniopomorskie

The three periods follow one another, so for six weeks, from 18 January to 28 February, some part of Poland is always on holiday. The Christmas break runs from 23 to 31 December 2026 and the Easter break from 25 to 30 March 2027.

The grouping of regions changes every year. In 2026 Lower Silesia and Małopolska had their holidays together, from 2 to 15 February, and they will again in 2028, from 14 to 27 February.

What lift passes cost during the school holidays

All three holiday periods fall in high season at every resort we checked that has separate low- and high-season prices for 2026/27:

  • At Zieleniec and Biały Jar in Karpacz, both run by Winterpol, high season lasts from 19 December 2026 to 28 February 2027.
  • At Nosal in Zakopane it lasts from 4 January to 28 February 2027, after a Christmas period from 21 December to 3 January.
  • At Tatry Super Ski it lasts from 7 January to 7 March 2027, after a Christmas period from 25 December to 6 January.
Resort and pass
School holidays

165 zł
135 zł
Biały Jar, Karpacz, 7 hours
140 zł
95 zł
Nosal, Zakopane, 1 day
170 zł
145 zł
185 zł
165 zł before Christmas, 180 zł from 8 March

These are full-price adult passes. Tatry Super Ski is one pass for resorts including Kotelnica, Kaniówka and Bania in Białka Tatrzańska, Rusiń-Ski in Bukowina Tatrzańska and Polana Szymoszkowa in Zakopane. At Nosal and Tatry Super Ski, Christmas is the most expensive time: over the Christmas period a day pass costs 180 zł at Nosal and 200 zł at Tatry Super Ski.

Czarna Góra Resort in Sienna and Słotwiny Arena in Krynica-Zdrój charge one price all season: 160 zł for 7 hours at Czarna Góra Resort and 205 zł for a full day at Słotwiny. Kasprowy Wierch, Gubałówka, Jaworzyna Krynicka, Szrenica and Ski&Sun in Świeradów-Zdrój had not yet published their 2026/27 day-pass prices.

Children's passes

The age limit for a reduced pass differs by resort:

  • at Zieleniec, children up to 10,
  • at Biały Jar, children aged 6 to 12, with a junior pass for ages 3 to 5,
  • at Czarna Góra Resort, children up to 12,
  • at Tatry Super Ski, children and teenagers under 16, but reduced passes are sold only at its resorts' ticket offices,
  • Nosal has no children's prices and gives 10% off with a Large Family Card (Karta Dużej Rodziny).

Is ski rental more expensive during the school holidays

Usually not. Most shops that have published 2026/27 price lists charge one price all winter:

Shop
Adult set, per day
U Gąsienicy, Białka Tatrzańska
80 zł
Nosal, Zakopane
85 zł
Ski-Raft, Zieleniec
80 zł
80 zł
80 zł

We found no shop with a school-holiday surcharge or a separate holiday price list. Three shops in the table did raise their prices for the new season: Nosal from 80 to 85 zł, Ski-Raft from 70 to 80 zł and Szkoła Narciarstwa i Snowboardu Karpacz from 60 to 80 zł.

Two Winterpol shops are cheaper outside high season, that is until 18 December 2026 and from 1 March 2027. At M&M at Biały Jar an adult set costs 75 zł for 24 hours in high season and 50 zł in low season. A children's set costs 65 or 40 zł there, and a snowboard 85 or 60 zł. T&T in Zieleniec gives 5% off in low season.

On a longer trip, each day costs less if you rent your gear for the whole stay at once. At Nosal a set for 7 days costs 520 zł, about 74 zł a day, and at Czarna Góra Resort a set for 5 days costs 330 zł, 66 zł a day. Our guide to ski rental prices compares more shops.

Do you need to book ski rental in advance

Shops differ on this, and none of those we checked says how many days ahead to book.

Limba in Białka Tatrzańska says it has enough gear and there is no need to book in advance ("Nie ma potrzeby wcześniejszej rezerwacji"). Ski&Bike in Świeradów-Zdrój also rents gear without a booking, and Polana Szymoszkowa in Zakopane takes bookings from groups only. The Zieleniec Association, on zieleniec.pl, advises booking gear ahead, especially in high season.

Shops that take bookings do so on different terms:

  • U Maćka in Białka Tatrzańska has an online booking form.
  • Ski-Raft and Bear Team in Zieleniec take bookings by phone, and Tom-Sport in Świeradów-Zdrój by phone or through a form.
  • At GO!Ski in Zakopane a booking is binding only once the shop confirms it, and the shop agrees cancellation and refund terms with each customer separately.
  • Szkoła Narciarstwa i Snowboardu Karpacz takes bookings through a form, then gets in touch to confirm the terms and payment. It may cancel unpaid bookings.
  • Daniel-Ski in the Podhale region takes online bookings only with payment up front. Once you have paid, you have no right of withdrawal (the shop cites article 38(1)(12) of the Polish Consumer Rights Act), a change of date is up to the shop, and returning gear early gets no refund.

Before you book, ask whether you have to pay up front, whether you can cancel or move the booking, and whether you get money back if you return the gear early.

You can search for rental shops in Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska and Krynica-Zdrój with Rentouri's search for Małopolska, and in Karpacz, Zieleniec and Szklarska Poręba with the search for Lower Silesia. We also describe the shops in Karpacz and Szklarska Poręba.

When to buy lift passes for less

Resorts give discounts on passes bought before the season (as of 24 October 2026):

  • At Zieleniec passes are 15 to 25% cheaper until 31 October and 10 to 20% cheaper in November. A pass for any 6 days of the season costs 697.50 zł in October instead of 930 zł.
  • Tatry Super Ski gives 15% off high-season passes bought by 1 November 2026, 11% from 2 to 15 November and 9% from 16 to 29 November. After that the discount drops to 7%, then 5% and finally 3%.
  • Ski&Sun in Świeradów-Zdrój sells selected 2026/27 passes 30% cheaper from 9 to 26 November 2026.
  • Czarna Góra Resort sells passes in a presale with up to 20% off.

We found no shop that states a discount for booking rental gear early.

Is it cheaper before Christmas and in March

Lift passes are cheaper before Christmas and from March: at Zieleniec and Biały Jar until 18 December and from 1 March, at Nosal until 20 December and from 1 March, and at Tatry Super Ski until 24 December and from 8 March. A 7-hour pass at Biały Jar then costs 95 zł instead of 140 zł. At Tatry Super Ski March changes little: a day pass costs 180 zł instead of 185 zł.

Trips before Christmas or in March are harder to plan, though. Zieleniec aims to open in early December but says that this is only a plan. Ski&Sun in Świeradów-Zdrój opened each of its last six seasons between 29 November and 19 December, and at Nosal, where low season starts on 1 March, last season ended on 8 March 2026.

How to plan a ski trip in the Polish school holidays

  1. Check whether your dates overlap the Polish school holidays and whether the resort charges high-season prices then.
  2. Buy your lift pass early, while pre-season discounts last.
  3. Call or email the rental shop and ask whether it takes bookings and on what terms.
  4. Rent your gear for the whole stay at once.
  5. Children under 16 must wear a helmet on Polish slopes. Our ski helmet guide explains the rule, and some shops include a helmet in their children's set.
